Christmas Lights Cookies |
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2/3 cups unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 5 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/3 cups sour cream
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 stick unsalted butter softened
- 3 tbsp milk
- black food coloring
- 10.8 ounces Mini M&Ms
Instructions
- Cream the butter, shortening, sugar, two tsp vanilla, and a pair of eggs in a very giant bowl. combine within the flour, sodium bicarbonate, leaven, sour cream, and salt. The dough can feel soft and sticky, thus chill the dough directly within the bowl till firm.
- Roll the dough onto a well-floured surface, then take circles with a kitchen utensil. Place the cutouts on a parchment lined pan and bake at 350° for 8–9 minutes.
- whereas the cookies area unit cooling, prepare the icing by compounding one stick of tasteless butter with three cups of granulated sugar, one tsp of vanilla, and three tbsp of milk. Divide the icing into two little bowls. Stir black food colour into one bowl and leave the second bowl uncolored.
- Spoon the black icing into a bag fitted with a #1 tip.
- Use a spherical, flat knife to unfold white icing onto every cookie.
- Pipe the black icing on the surface, making loops and curves to emulate tangled vacation lights. Last, invite children to press mini M&Ms into the black icing to make a whole strand of lights.
